Meet the Author
Sherrie Rutherford is a retired attorney and lives on Florida’s Gulf Coast with her husband, Larry. She grew up in East Tennessee and has many fond memories of spending parts of her summers with her grandparents on their small farm in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.
Working in the garden, watching her grandmother can food, helping her grandfather put up tobacco, being around farm animals, and eating delicious country food were highlights. But, she holds a special place in her heart for all the relatives who would drop by “to visit a spell” and talk about the old times.
After graduating law school, she moved to Houston where she practiced law in the energy industry, which ultimately took her to Ohio.
Her and Larry’s love of travel has taken Sherrie to all seven continents and forty-five countries—so far! She enjoys hiking (especially in the Great Smoky Mountains) and playing Bridge. She is a member of the Florida Writers Association. She loves writing, and her passion for Appalachia and railroad history inspired the Bekbourg County mystery series.
