Sherrie Rutherford and VenCin Publishing, the fictitious name under which Sherrie Rutherford does business (“Rutherford”, “we” or “us” or “our”) wants to make sure you understand how we collect and use your personal information when you provide it to us through our web site, https://www.sherrierutherford.com (the “Site”). Rutherford is an author. The purpose of the Site is to promote her books and related events.

We use Mailchimp to collect names and email addresses from those who choose voluntarily to provide such information, and to send marketing emails to the addresses we collect. We do have direct access to that information, so we consider it Your Site Information. We do not, however, control Mailchimp’s data privacy practices.

If you contact us through the Site, we will collect the information you choose to submit.

What Type of Information Do Our Website Vendors Collect?

The Site is constructed with WordPress open source software (https://wordpress.org) installed on a server provided by Siteground (https://siteground.com). Please review Siteground’s privacy policy (https://www.siteground.com/privacy.htm), particularly provisions pertaining to “End Users.”

Siteground and/or Mailchimp may collect “passive information” regarding your use of the Site. We have no control over this, and neither vendor shares such information with us. Such information may, by way of example only, include your IP address, domain name, request method, URI user agent, TLS version, cache data, browser and device characteristics, operating system, page views, clickstream patterns, language preferences, referring URLs or other traffic sources, log files, web beacons, cookies, device name, country, time, date and location and other technical information. We consider this type of information Your Vendor Information.

Siteground servers may be located in various locations around the world, including the United States. We cannot make any representations regarding the location of your information.

You may also request that we delete Your Site Information by contacting us at sherrie@sherrierutherford.com, using DATA ACCESS REQUEST in the subject line. We have no control over Your Vendor Information.

The Site is dependent on the security measures that WordPress provides.

Data Retention

We reserve the right to store the information you provide to us for as long as we deem necessary for the purpose(s) outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless applicable law requires us to keep it for a longer period of time. Information in copies made for backup and business continuity may remain for longer than the original data.
